Right. My yuletide assignment. It's a really, really tiny fandom (really tiny, maybe even tinier than Mercy) and the request is vague enough (and mentions enough stuff I'm all for) that it's going to feel like I'm writing for myself. Which is good, technically, except I kind of wanted to get something that would be terrifying and exciting all at once, like, uh, Leverage. (But hey, I caught up with that a week ago. It was recent in my mind.) Every time I think about my assignment in terms of the story I'll be writing--I have a somewhat clear picture of it already, what the fuck--I feel so warm and calm, though. It's going to be lovely. And self-indulgent because, as I said, this is my not-so-secret tiny pairing I've been carrying a torch for since--I think it's safe to say January or February, because I got into so many things at that time I highly doubt that narrows my assignment down at all.

So, yay! At least this year I know what to write right away and am certain my recipient might like it. Last year I got a letterless, characterless request, and it was horrible. (Though I love the fic I wrote for it, even if my recipient never got back to me.)

Anyway, I have to go deal with the disaster that is my kitchen when my mom's not around and make myself some lunch, so here, have a really generic meme:

Meme: Ask me any question about any object of my fannish obsession(s) - be it my opinion on the canon to my thoughts on the fandom itself - and I will answer.

fandoms: American Idol 8, Disney Channel RPF, Bones, Glee, Mercy, HIMYM, Grey's Anatomy, Friday Night Lights, Leverage, but basically anything I've ever mentioned is game.

Last night was weird.

I was going to begin this post in a rather ominous manner, but I refrained from that and instead you get this. Last night was really, really weird. First I watched Mercy, which put me in a good mood. Then I had dinner, which put me in a frustrated, sad mood. My mom salvaged some of my emotional stability at the end, and I took half an anxiolytic pill anyway. Then yuletide assignments went out, which was really exciting and nerve-wracking, but in a good way. My sister fell asleep, as she does, and around 2AM, I think, she started screaming for my mom, as she often does.

Only thing, her eyes were wide open and she wasn't actually awake. I called my mom, she tried to calm my sister down, my sister was not waking up, still wide-eyed. I turned on the lights, and she started seizing. It wasn't brutal, body-off-the-bed seizing, but it was definitely a seizure. I freaked out. She started bleeding from the mouth because she'd bit her tongue. I told my dad to call a freaking ambulance already and they took forever asking questions and shit. She stabilized, she was still breathing, but not reacting, and when my mom talked to her she didn't reply or make eye contact or anything. It was really bizarre. I sort of unleashed my worry onto the yuletide IRC chat and [info]annemaris, which was probably not the right thing to do but there was nothing else I could do and, yeah.

Eventually the paramedics got here, my mother told them that it was an isolated event, which, okay, she's never seized before, but she's been waking up screaming with nightmares practically daily since June. Just this time she didn't wake up. She looked almost somnambulistic, I have no idea. The only word she said before the paramedics took her away was her age, which was a huge relief to hear, and apparently she was conscious and reactive this morning, though she couldn't talk because of the tongue-biting incident.

And then she had another seizure, which--I assume if my father came back home, that's because she's stable, but she's being kept in the hospital for observation for a few days, and I'm not a person who drinks, but I'm finding alcohol really pretty useful in this situation. I'm thinking of putting some in my coffee right now.

(Some backstory: she's been sick all week, a common cold according to her doctor, mostly some bouts of coughing and fever. Not sure why I'm mentioning this, but maybe it makes a difference to someone?)

Anyway, this all feels surreal. I really hope it's just a scare, and I really hope I can hold it together and write some fic, because seriously, if there has been a moment when I should just forget about everything and think about a fictional reality in my life, this is so it.

I was going to talk about yuletide here but that seems horrible of me, so I'll probably post another entry in a while.

(Looking at my tags to tag this entry makes me want to pick my NaNo08 novel right back up.)

It's Sunday morning and I have no plans but trying to read Mine to Possess by Nalini Singh and watch a couple of movies. I'm trying to catch up with movies because my going to China sort of prevent me to watch anything :).

Speaking of China, I still have one city to present to all of you. My #1 rank, right? Well, since this is the last weekend before everything goes to normal, meaning my going back to the office on Monday, I'd better do it now. Sort of closure of everything holiday related, you know? :)

RANK 1: YANGSHUO

the story and the photos )

I had something to say about this week's Grey's Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy 6.09 - New History )

To close off this entry, I'd like to present Top 10 out of the 35 Glee songs that I currently have on my possesion. It's pointless issue, I know, but sometimes I like pointless things :p. The rank will definitely change over time. This is the present standing only.

Counting Down Glee Songs )

PS: I am just hooked to the new Lady Gaga and Beyoncé's song!!! Also Timbaland feat. Justin Timberlake. I have no idea about Leighton Meester (no, I don't watch GG) but man, her song with Robin Thicke is FUN. And oh, the two new songs of Adam Lambert that has been leaked on the Net, "Whataya Want From Me" and "Master Plan", NOPE, I am NOT impressed by them :(

WARNING: This is another random entry that pretty much various topics *g*. It has movies, books, meme, cat, well it'll be long, so you have been warned.

Yesterday, my sister and I went to the cinema and watched 2012 with my movie friends. While driving there, it was raining hard, and we were trapped a couple of times in traffic jam. Maybe it had something to do with watching a disaster movie on Friday the 13th :). The movie itself was okay. Don't expect anything of the story, you know how Roland Emmerich's movies are. But the CGI/Effects were cool. I didn't even notice the 2.5 hours of the movie length, and I have problems with movies longer than 2 hours

Today, I went to a bookstore to pick up a couple of books I reserved (thanks, [info]tomatoe18!). I ended up buying 3 more books and spent around $55 for them. Kinokuniya is expensive!! :p. Oh, well ... I haven't bought books for awhile. Besides, there are four Nalini Singh's titles from her Psy-Changeling series that I'm curious to read. AND, my fellow Goodreaders will know (especially Ceci and Anica) that I have been very cynical with contemporary romance genre lately and I decided to try again and bought one from an author that I have never heard of, Heidi Betts. I just hope I don't get disappointed in the end.

Yes, the book covers for the Nalini Singh's books are rather corny *g*

In the meantime, I finally finished my 68th book.

Next, I have this 5 (five) words association meme.

Rules: Reply to this meme by yelling 'WORDS!', and I will give you five words that remind me of you. Then post them in your journal and explain what they mean to you. Keep in mind that if I don't know you that well, your words might end up kind of odd or weird. You WILL only get five words if you do include 'WORDS!' in a reply to this post, meaning you can safely comment (should you wish to do so) without having to play.

I haven't done this for awhile, and I thought, heck, why not. This time, the words came from [info]malicat82. She gave me:

Brothers & Sisters, Indonesia, Shelter, Brian/Justin, movies )

I have listened to three albums lately and I am IN LOVE WITH THEM. First is John Mayer's Battle Studies, second is Benjamin Taylor's The Legend Of Kung Folk Part 1, and third is OneRepublic's Waking Up. Those albums are awesome!!!

Okay, I will close this random entry with a photo of my Mom's adopted cat, Kuro. You see he always has this -- well, my Mom calls it "stupid look" -- look with him, whenever he wants to eat :p. No, he doesn't meowing (is that even a word?!), he just looks at his empty plate, then looks up at my Mom with expectations. We find it amusing, of course. He is so darn black, it hard to take photos of him! This one is also for my cat lover friend, [info]barking_cats

OMG, it's Saturday afternoon. On Monday I have to return to the office. My sabbatical leave is finally over :(. Oh, well ... it has been fun. I still have three episodes to watch from Grey's Anatomy, The Vampire Diaries, and White Collar. I think I'll watch the later first because Matt Bomer is so YUMMY!

Thanks for reading all this. I told you it will be random :)

There are times you just have to let something go. So starting today, my art community, [info]midnight_space is NO MORE. I deleted it. I told [info]nordmaedchen this after she did hers. My relationship with PS is not like it used to. I almost never use it anymore except if I'm working with photos. And the world of graphic fandom (except for icons) is changing as well. So I don't see the point of keeping it around.

However, I will still keep posting WP here, if I ever create one. AND, my fanarts can still be accessed at my LJ art gallery

It's Friday here; that means there will be new episode of CSI. I just watched the 2nd part of the CSI crossover in CSI: NY and I was loving it. Can't wait to see how it concludes in Vegas. Yes, I still watch this show religiously :). What can I say, police procedurals/crime show interest me. Just like books too; I enjoy this genre. In fact, I'm reading Michael Connelly's "The Scarecrow" at the moment. Another crime/detective book.

Tonight though, I will be going to the cinema and watch 2012 with my movie friends. My sister is coming with me, a rare occasion because she is not as movie enthusiast as I am. But she has been so busy with her thesis, she said she could need a distraction.

Speaking of my sister, she called me out just a moment ago. Apparently, the Cable at my parents' was showing Grey's Anatomy rerun, and it was the episode where Gale Harold was guest staring, and my sister said, "That is Brian, right? From Queer As Folk?". See, my sister is NOT a TV junkie like myself. Although from time to time, she might catch few TV episodes with me while I'm watching them BUT she doesn't really follow any TV shows. The ones that she followed regularly were only Friends, Sex and the City, and Will and Grace ... and they have been off air. So it was cute that she recognized Brian Kinney because she only caught glimpses of it when I was watching that show in marathon.

Yeah, totally random post, I know

I hope you enjoy today ...

I need to watch Glee ...

There are some very good releases at this end of the year for me to get my hand on, including Kris Allen, Adam Lambert, OneRepublic, Tori Amos, Carrie Underwood, John Mayer, Jamie Cullum, Norah Jones, Snow Patrol Greatest Hits, Foo Fighters Greatest Hits, and my man, Robbie Williams.

First stop, I FINALLY listen to Kris Allen debut album, Kris Allen.

I really enjoyed this. Kris has a voice that fits my easy listening mood. He's not glamourous like Adam, he is more down-to-earth and his album shows it. One thing I realize, unlike previous winners, Kris does not have to include the "winner" song of No Boundaries. As much as I like Kris (and enjoy Adam), I must pout on that fact because David Cook didn't get the same treatment. As Cook fans, I prefer to hear Little Lies or Anodyne to be included in the album rather than Time of My Life. However, Kris did include a different version of Heartless, which unfortunately was a DISASTER!! What the F*CK that the producers are thinking with this one?

I didn't listen to the snippets previously, but what my top three songs from this album matches EXACTLY like what Michael Slezak from EW thought. Bring It Back is my FAVORITE from the album. My GOSH, it is so ADDICTIVE!! Although I have to admit that the first intro into the song reminds me to another song with similar intro ... HELP, can anyone tell me what song it is??. I got it, the song intro remind me of Elliott Yamin's Can't Keep On Loving You. Look, another AI alumn.

Anyway, I imagine this being on constant repeat. I totally love what Slezak said about the song (based on the snippet): "At once retro and totally current, it could be the perfect accompaniment for a fetching movie star as he/she races to the airport in the pouring rain, seeking one last chance at romantic redemption". I completely LOVE this song. The Truth is my 2nd favorite and I Need To Know is my 3rd favorite.

Verdict: B. Now I will have to listen to Adam Lambert's, once it's out.

OOT: It's cute that Kris was the one ensuring People magazine that Adam was fine after the break-up with his boyfriend. Gosh, their friendship cuteness is just totally adorable!

I still have two more cities to cover, so let's go to rank 2, okay ...

RANK 2: BEIJING

the story and the photos )

I want to talk about House M.D.. Since I know most of my flist don't watch this one or have left the show for good, I don't put this under cut.

Another crappy episode for me. Now that the old ducklings have taken the spot, I really don't care about them. It's like the magic is gone. Even the "adult plot" of House, Wilson, Cuddy, and Lucas felt off. It was just weird to see House pursuing Cuddy like this (I didn't see it as romantic, sorry). And throwing Cuddy and Lucas to the viewers also feel off. I like Lucas, I really do. But that Cuddy has been seeing him for awhile? Really? The only thing I liked from the episode was again, the House and Wilson development. The way that House read that paper while looking at Wilson, preventing his best friend to do career suicide, that was just great. I really enjoyed their friendship lately. The scene at the lake during sunset with the red purple sky was beautiful. House and Wilson = ♥

Oh, and I FINALLY watched a movie again. I haven't seen ANY movies for a month due to my holiday. I only have less than 2 months to be able to meet my goal of 200 movies, so I'd better catch up!! This one is my 163rd; 500 Days of Summer. Been wanting to see that for awhile. Lovely movie, love Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel (Emily and her has gorgeous eyes :p). Now I just have to find the soundtrack ....

I'm beginning to think NaNo is just not going to happen for me this year. But that's all right, because I'm 6000 words away from having completed a 43,000-word story in less than five weeks, and I have [info]andromedids to write next (so excited omg), and Kris's album might just kill me before I'm able to do any of those things.

Since I can't actually concentrate on anything while I listen to this, a meme:

Pick a paragraph (or any passage less than 500 words) from any fanfic I've written, and comment to this post with that selection. I will then give you a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what's going on in the character's heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you'd expect to find on a DVD commentary track. masterlist

Before I forget--happy birthday, [info]rhea_carlysse! I hope you're having a lovely day.

-

Remember that Gilmore Girls episode where Rory goes to Chilton and Emily buys her a bunch of things and tries to get a DSL line installed in Lorelai's house without her consent? And when Kirk the installation guys look for the key in the wrong porcelain animal and make a ruckus, Babette calls Lorelai and Lorelai gets there and tells Kirk them to leave, and then she shows up at her mother's hair salon and tells her that they, Rory and her, like their Internet slow, so they can take a walk and dance and make a sandwich and if they get DSL there'll be no walking, no dancing and they'll starve?

That makes the terribly slow speed my Internet has right now (my download limit was so insufficient I've already gone over it once, and figuratively another six times since) bearable—even, somehow, pleasant. In that strange, calm, we-have-all-the-time-in-the-world (because I can finally stay at my desk and write while things download) kind of way. I don't even know. All these Internetless months may have fucked with my way of seeing things a little.

Anyway! Signed up for Yuletide. Should be writing/posting my DYW letter soon. I requested Mercy and Wild Child and RPF - Disney and RPF - American Idol 8, and all four of them start with femslash. (I gave other options, mind. I play nice.) And my list of offers is too long to include here, but it took FOREVER to assemble, what with the specifying characters and character combos and stuff. /o\

Have only watched this week's Bones so far, which was lovely, but all the other episodes I need to catch up on this week's TV are finally ready and waiting for me on my hard drive, so that's kind of exciting.

Also, apparently I am twenty years old now. I'd be tempted to pull an Emerson Cod and say hell, no and go fix that mistake if it weren't for the fact that I don't have a time machine. All in all, though, it's been a really good day. Nothing like Nov. 8, 2007 (when I felt borderline suicidal) and Nov. 8, 2008 (sad and frustrated). I mean -- :D.

Awhile ago I posted my favorite male/female TV BFFs. Now, I am doing my favorite same sex TV BFF.

While there might be plenty BFFs on TV shows but for me, what constitute as BFF must not only because they "work" together or said as "best friends". They should have that chemistry or showing activities outside work and have several important scenes that support the fact that they're BFFs. So for example, Bones and Angela do not really feel like BFFs to me because Bones shares more time with Booth while Angela on the lab. Or Mark and Derek in Grey's Anatomy because I almost never seen them really do BFF activities.

Funny thing, the top 3 are male/male BFF :p

Top 5 Favorite Same Sex TV BFF )

And, I need a new wallpaper for my PC ... so I ended up making a simple one with white background, since the last few wallpapers of mine were all dark. I'm turning to Callie/Arisona this time because I've been enjoying their storyline this season ...

Callie/Arizona

I'm leaving today for two nights in Bali for a company activity. It might be nice to see my colleagues again after 3 weeks holiday. ALTHOUGH, I still definitely enjoy one more week of my staying home as part of my sabbatical leave.

I was able to catch up with several shows now; including this week's episode ... and I totally need to talk about these two's latest

Flash Forward 1.07 )

Supernatural 5.08 )

[info]malicat, I know that you have given up on Supernatural; but I truly think you need to see this one episode because I just think it's a brilliant one.

By the way, I found out that the total episodes I have to watch are less than 50 because some shows only have two or even one episode when I was away for my + 3 weeks vacation. I also decide to postpone watching Accidentally On Purpose and HIMYM until MUCH later, like maybe during winter break. It doesn't reduce my TV shows significantly, but hey, it's a progress!!

Now, the last shows I need to catch up with are The Vampire Diaries and Merlin; then I guess I'm back on track with all 14 shows. AND I can check out White Collar because it's on USA and I love how entertaining Burn Notice and Royal Pains are.
